Course Outline

This course consists of a combination of economics, accounting, law and enterprise studies (involves planning, producing and marketing your own product). Students will be doing a project which involves having a market day and preparing and reviewing their business activity in their business groups. It is part of an integrated program which is further developed in Economics, Accounting and Business Studies at Years 11, 12 and 13. Students may pick up Commerce for the first time at this year level, as there is no prerequisite for entry. 

This course will also help students to understand how individuals and businesses make economic decisions. Students will gain an understanding of how money flows through the economy/world and learn about personal finances with creating budgets as well as other financial statements. Through Enterprise Studies/Market Day, students will have the opportunity to discover marketing and pricing strategies that businesses use. They will have the opportunity to create their own marketing campaign with exciting advertising and commercials.


Commerce can lead to a wide range of career paths including business owner, accountant, banking, auditor, financial advisor, finance manager, policy analyst, statistician economist, marketing, management, human resources and elected government representative.
