Course Description

Who would be interested in this course?

Courses are open to any student, however this course is recommended for students who have a good understanding of the concepts of Biology from Level Two and are ready to start straight into the Level Three learning.


LEARNING ACTIVITIES: This course has an expectation of excellent time management and learner agency as they use biological knowledge to come to an informed decision about a socio-scientific issue and investigate case studies in genetic engineering and the human manipulation of organisms. Critical thinking is required to be successful in explaining the trends in human evolution, the patterns and processes that lead to speciation and the responses of plants and animals to their environments. This course compliments Scholarship Biology.  Scholarship tutorials are run in addition to this course. Devices will be essential for every lesson. Use of text books and course workbooks; videos; presentations and class discussions. Trip to Auckland Zoo. Homework is a vital part of the course and students can expect to have regular homework set.
