Level 1 Dance
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Ms S. Allpress
LEARNING ACTIVITIES: Students will further develop their knowledge and understanding of the elements of dance to choreograph and perform a range of original dances. As much as possible the contexts for learning will be integrated to ensure the best learning outcomes for all students. Students will also study a specific dance performance and show their understanding of a selected dance in a written external examination.
Recommended Prior Learning
Prior experience in Junior Dance is recommended but not essential. Experience performing in either cultural dance or a school production is useful. Studio training in any dance style would be an advantage, especially if you have not taken any junior dance options at Lynfield College. An ability to work collaboratively in pairs or small groups will be a requirement for success in this course. Due to the focus on group work, a good attendance record is advised as a prerequisite for entry. If you are unsure about your suitability to enroll in this option, please discuss with the HOD of Drama and Dance, Ms Allpress.
