Who would be interested in this course?

Courses are open to any student, however this course is recommended for students who have a complete understanding of the concepts of Chemistry from Level Two, and are ready to start straight into the Level Three learning.


This course is designed to cater for students whose chosen pathway leads to tertiary study within Chemistry or related fields.  Students will complete 3 x External standards and 2 x Internal standards, moving through conceptual material at a faster pace in order give them a broad overview of all aspects of the Chemistry field and to help prepare them for the challenges of a University or related qualification.

The course covers more content, helping students be prepared to attempt the Scholarship exam should they wish to follow that path.

LEARNING ACTIVITIES: A range of learning experiences are designed to cater to different learning styles, including extensive practical work, modelling and enrichment of knowledge. There is a focus on problem-solving and analytical techniques. Homework is an essential part of the course and students can expect to have regular tasks set.

Chemistry is an important prerequisite for technology, engineering, health science, biochemistry, food science, marine science, microbiology, pharmacology and toxicology, neuroscience, clothing and textiles science. Also useful in the following careers; forensic science, water treatment, teaching, medical testing, fertilizer manufacture, pollution monitoring, brewing, plastic manufacture etc.
