Who would be interested in this course?

Students who enjoyed Year 10 Commerce or any student who wants to gain an understanding of New Zealand businesses, finance and how an economy operates. Students who enjoy research based projects as well interacting with small and large groups.


This course combines all 3 subjects within Commerce (Accounting, Economics and Business Studies). Students will learn about how money flows through the economy and interpret Demand and Supply models. They will also learn to prepare financial statements for a sole proprietor business. Entrepreneurship, Marketing/Advertising, Maori Businesses/concepts and employer/employee rights and responsibilities will be explored.


This is a full year course and counts as two option course selections.

Assessment Information

Assessments during the learning process will include, but are not limited to, Topic Tests, Research Assignments, and Group Presentations.
