Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr R. Eyre.
Earth Science is largely Physics in Action. Learn how fundamental physical ideas like heat and energy drive Earth systems like plate tectonics, climate change and the weather.
This course will prepare you to continue into Physics &/or Earth and Space Science at Year 12.
This is a half year course and counts as one of your two Science courses, or one of your additional option selections.
Who would be interested in this course?
Students who enjoyed the physics and earth science aspects of Year 9 & 10 Science, and are interested in studying Physics &/or Earth and Space Science throughout the Senior school.

Assessment Information
There will be formative assessments during the learning process, such as test style assessment applying concepts learned to new situations, and research and report writing on an Earth Science Event. There will also be the option to sit an external exam in November. Sitting this external exam or not has no bearing on continuing on to L2 Physics and/or Earth and Space Science courses, that will be based on classroom learning and success in class assessments.Credit Information
You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
Total Credits Available: 4 credits.
