Level 3 Earth and Space Science
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr R. Eyre
This course is designed for students with an interest in Earth and Space Science. Assessments will allow students to demonstrate their understanding in a range of formats. Students will study aspects of geology, astronomy, issues affecting Earth and society, ocean and atmospheric processes through a wide variety of activities, including research, group work, and modeling.
By the end of the year, successful students will have obtained Level 3 credits which contribute to
University Entrance. The credits will also count towards the Literacy requirements of University Entrance. Extra studies for the Earth and Space Science Scholarship examination may be offered to students who show an interest, and sufficient ability. Success in Earth and Space Science can lead to further study and careers in geology, astronomy, planetary science, environmental science, climate change, environmental planning, geography, fisheries research, land management and others.
Recommended Prior Learning
Ideally 10 credits from any Level 2 Science course, including at least one externally assessed standard.
