Teacher in Charge: Mr E. Dye.
Health and Physical Education are an integral part of the development of all students. The Year 9 Health and Physical Education program is built on the foundations of the New Zealand Curriculum and offers variety and challenge to help motivate our students to achieve to their potential.
Within each unit teachers use a range of contexts and activities to deliver the objectives of the unit. Each class programme is tailored to suit the collective needs and desires of that class. Students are consulted throughout the year and their ideas are incorporated into units of work. We believe having a student-centered approach engages students and encourages ownership of their learning.
Health and Physical Education is a compulsory part of the curriculum, teaching students physical skills alongside vital personal and interpersonal skills that are key to success in all walks of life. This leads onto a variety of options in Year 11 and beyond, including health, physical education and outdoor education options.
