Teacher in Charge: Ms J. Moss.
In this subject we explore a variety of texts and text types. We strive to understand how meaning is constructed in texts and then craft texts to create meaning and explore self-expression.
In Year 9, students develop familiarity with short texts written by New Zealand authors. We focus our attention at how characters are developed in texts and how they overcome challenges. In the second half of the year explore genre in depth, developing a familiarity with the codes and conventions of one genre. We also look at personal/memoir writing and write autobiographical pieces about our personal connection with Aotearoa.
There are four assessments throughout the year, each loosely tied to a term. Multiple skills will be assessed in each activity.
