Course Description

Who would be interested in this course?

Any student with an interest in Art.  It is preferable to have Level 1 credits from one of the following Level 1 courses-  Level 1 Visual Arts, Level 1 Digital Media, Level 1 Photography.

If new to Art, students must seek approval from HOD Visual Arts (Mr. Hambridge). Some ability in freehand drawing and an understanding of how to use Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator is required.

Exclusions: a maximum of TWO Visual Arts courses may be taken.


LEARNING ACTIVITIES: Design related research, e-learning, drawing, scanning, illustration, designing, digital photography, digital painting, Photoshop and Illustrator, folio presentation, exhibition of artwork.

This course leads to Level 3 Visual Arts Design / Photography / Painting and tertiary study for a wide range of careers: graphic design, product design, display design, interior design, concept art, game design, spatial design, architecture, packaging, magazine and book design, animation, illustration, computer graphics, fashion design, textile design, photography, creative industries, and education.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

All course related materials for use in class will be supplied by the school. It is highly recommended that a 16GB USB flash drive is purchased and that students sign up for the discount priced Adobe license offered by the school, which will allow students access to Abode Photoshop at home. Students are also recommended to visit the National Art Supplies website and purchase the design pack which includes a sketchbook and drawing materials.
