This course focuses on pre-literacy language development. It does not provide credits towards Level 1 Literacy, but students are able to gain English Language (ESOL) credits in reading, writing and listening. The course includes personal reading and reading of basic texts to show comprehension. Speaking and listening form an important part of this course. The course also includes grammatical structure and vocabulary extension activities. Students writing information reports using personal research.
Level 2 EFS - English for Further Studies, Level 2 ELS - English Language Support
The work done in 1EFS will support students in working towards achieving the necessary Level 1 Literacy component for NCEA in 2EFS next year.
