Year 10 Physical Education

10PHE
Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr D. Smith.

Physical activity is not only linked to the overall wellbeing of students but also to academic success. Our Year 10 Physical Education program is underpinned by the New Zealand Curriculum and offers variety and challenge to help motivate our students to achieve to their potential.

Within each unit teachers use a range of contexts and activities to deliver the objectives of the unit. Each class programme is tailored to suit the collective needs and desires of that class. Students are consulted at the beginning of each unit and their ideas are incorporated into it. We believe having a student-centered approach engages students and develops class ownership of their learning.

Health and Physical Education is a compulsory part of the curriculum at Year 10, teaching students physical skills alongside vital personal and interpersonal skills that are key to success in all walks of life. This leads onto a variety of options in Year 11 and beyond, including health, physical education and outdoor education options.
