Teacher in Charge: Ms C. Nicholson
Students will participate in small groups to create and present short theatre works to their
peers. The course focuses on the practical application of drama skills including improvisation, devising drama, working with scripts and characterisation using vocal and physical acting techniques.
The skills and processes involved in theatre production will be explored as well as the practical application of theatre technologies such as sound, lighting, props and costume. The use of personal digital devices for blended e-Learning will be applied to research, creating Powerpoints, writing devised theatre, drama vocabulary, exam exercises and students self-evaluation of their performances.
It is not essential for students to have taken the Year 9 Drama or Dance options the previous year, but either course would be useful prior experience.
Students must be willing to perform in front of an audience of their peers within the class.
As there is quite a lot of paired and group work in this course, a good track record of attendance is recommended.
It is the policy of Lynfield College to have school-wide policies that inform parents and students of the criteria for administering all Assessments for National Qualifications.
