Course Description

This course will suit students who have enjoyed studying English throughout secondary school. Students will have an active role in selecting the standards they are interested in completing. There will be a number of larger projects as well as "short and sharp" learning opportunities. Students will continue to develop the key skills of English through presenting, writing, and close reading (both written text and visual texts). Texts studied in previous years include: The Handmaid's Tale, The Road, Othello, Frankenstein, The Great Gatsby, The Water Cure, Atonement and others.
There are at least 12 credits offered through internals in this course (depending on student selection). A further four credits are offered through the external examinations.
Who would be interested in this course?
At least 10 credits gained through Level 2 English Achievement Standards is recommended.
At least one external English standard should be at the Achieved level or higher.
Entry can be granted at the discretion of the Teacher in Charge.

A suitable device and 1B5 exercise book.
