Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr G. Hambridge

LEARNING ACTIVITIES: Design related research, e-learning, drawing, scanning, illustration, designing, digital photography, digital painting, computer graphics, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, collage, mixed media, construction, typography, moving image, folio presentation, scholarship research, exhibition of artwork.

This course leads to tertiary study for a very wide range of careers: graphic design, product design, concept art, interior design, spatial design, architecture, magazine and book design, animation, illustration, computer graphics, fashion design, textile design, photography, creative industries and education.


Recommended Prior Learning

Ideally 12 credits from NCEA Level 1 ART or ADM, Level 2 Design, Visual Arts, Photography, Design and Visual Communication or Fashion Design. If new to Visual Art and Design, students must seek permission from HOD Visual Arts (Mr Hambridge).

Exclusions: a maximum of TWO Visual Arts courses may be taken.


Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

All course related materials for use in class will be supplied by the school. It is highly recommended that a 16GB USB flash drive is purchased and that students sign up for the discount priced Adobe license offered by the school, which will allow students access to Abode Photoshop at home.
