Level 3 Statistics
Course Description

This Statistics Course is the study of interpreting data and understanding probabilities. It is for students who have succeeded in Level 2 Statistics (2MAS) or Level 2 Algebra and Calculus (2MAC). There are two externally assessed standards in this course; Probability Concepts and Probability Distributions. This course may be taken in conjunction with Level 3 Calculus (3MAC). It is applicable to a wide range of University courses including Commerce, Data Science, Meteorology, Biological Sciences, Health Sciences and Psychology. Students wishing to take this course having completed 2MAT and succeeded in the Probability Methods external, will need to discuss with the Head of Faculty.
Who would be interested in this course?
Students who have previously experienced Achievement of at least 14 credits, including AS91267 Probability Methods external from Level 2 Statistics (2MAS), OR achievement of at least 14 credits, including one of AS91261 Algebra or AS91262 Calculus externals from Level 2 Mathematics - Algebra and Calculus (2MAC). Entry from Level 2 Mathematics - General (2MAT) will require discussion and permission from the Head of Faculty.
