Level 2 English - English and History

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Ms J. Moss

This course will suit students who are taking History at Level 2 or Level 3. Students will research the impact of a significant event in NZ and demonstrate an understanding of the research process and information literacy skills. This project will combine the content and skills in both English and History. Students will also look at the causes and consequences of a significant historical event from a number of different perspectives. This exploration will provide the inspiration for two pieces of writing (either formal or creative) for the Writing Folio. A number of written and visual texts will be studied throughout the year to amplify the contexts covered in History. The selection of these texts will be in consultation with students.

There will be assessment opportunities in this course which build on the learning which occurs in History. The English standards will be offered at Level 2 or 3 depending on the needs of the students.

There are thirteen credits offered through internals and a further four credits available through external examination.

Recommended Prior Learning

Students should be confident readers and writers.
