Course Description

LEARNING ACTIVITIES: This course follows the national curriculum, covering speaking, listening, writing, reading, presenting and viewing. There is a clear focus on visual text analysis and creation. A thematic approach is used for the selection of texts offered to students which will appeal to a wide range of teenagers. Responsse to a studied written and/or visual text and/or unfamiliar texts are assessed in the external exam.
English is a language-rich subject, and a requirement for all future career and vocational pathways.
Recommended Prior Learning
Achievement in at least ONE of the external standards or TWO of the internal standards at Level One is suggested. If this does not apply then approval may be granted at the discretion of the HOF.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
A suitable device and 1B5 exercise book.
