Level 2 English
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Ms J. Moss.
This course follows the national curriculum, covering speaking, listening, writing, reading, presenting and viewing. There is a clear focus on visual text analysis and creation. Films that have been studied include V for Vendetta, Eye in the Sky and Gattaca. This film analysis will help prepare students for the internal and external assessment standards which require a sound knowledge of how and why cinematic techniques are used.
A thematic approach is used for the selection of texts offered to students which will appeal to a wide range of teenagers. Students will study written texts to help prepare them for the assessment standards, including the creation of a visual text and a response essay in the final exam.
Success in this course can lead to entry into either Level 3 English course.
English is a language-rich subject, and a requirement for all future career and vocational pathways, including teaching and journalism.
