Level 2 ELS - English Language Study

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr C. Bangs.

Using a variety of interactive strategies, students will develop grammar and vocabulary and writing, improve reading and listening comprehension and be assisted in coping with the language demands of their other subjects. The work done in this class will contribute towards the achievement of the Literacy Unit Standards in 2EFS.

An interim course designed to help students understand English skills required in mainstream courses and make a smooth transition to a full programme.

Who would be interested in this course?

Students who have completed 1EFS and 1ELS or, for new ELLs, the equivalent. For new ELLs entry into this courses ELLs will be determined by an entry test.  

This course is a two-year course: 2EFS + 2ELS in 2024 and 3EAP + 3ELS in 2025.

A device, 1B5 exercise book, 1B3 notebook, clearfile, refill, highlighter, pens, pencil, eraser

Pathway

This course leads to 3EAP and 3ELS in the following year, when students have the opportunity to gain credits for UE Literacy.

Assessment Information

Diagnostic assessment throughout the year to determine progress in vocabulary acquisition, grammar, reading, writing, speaking and listening.
