Course Description

LEARNING ACTIVITIES: Research, e-learning, drawing, illustration, designing, digital photography, digital painting, Photoshop, folio presentation, exhibition of artwork.
Tangata whenua have the option of creating artworks reflective of Maori art in 11ADM. Maori students will research established Maori artists whose art will inform a body of work for the year. Art mediums include drawing, painting and digital painting in Photoshop. Students will generate artworks for the Internal and External Achievement Standards offered in this course.
This course leads to Level 2, Level 3 Visual Arts Design/Photography, and tertiary study for a wide range of careers: Graphic design, product design, display design, interior design, spatial design, architecture, packaging, magazine and book design, animation, illustration, computer graphics, fashion design, textile design, photography, creative industries, and education.
Recommended Prior Learning
Achievement in Year 9 or Year 10 Visual Arts is preferable but not essential. Have an interest in drawing and digital art making is required. If new to Art, must seek approval from HOD Visual Arts, Mr Glynn Hambridge.
Exclusions: Students in this course may not take 11ART.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
All course related materials for use in class will be supplied by the school. It is highly recommended that a 16GB USB flash drive is purchased and that students sign up for the discount priced Adobe license offered by the school, which will allow students access to Abode Photoshop at home.
