Course Description

LEARNING ACTIVITIES: This course contains further development of mātauranga Māori, as it enters into more complex grammar features, alternative vocabulary including whakatauki and dialectal variance. Students will speak/present/ listen to and write in Te reo Māori with confidence and flair. They will be offered a variety of Māori experiences to develop their reo including kōrero and Kapa Haka performances for hui eg Powhiri visiting roopu, Whānau, kaiako and the community.

Māori media and journalism, iwi management, tertiary education, education, linguistics, medical, professional and legal work. Speakers of Te Reo Māori are in high demand, similarly the ability to speak and understand kawa and advise are all seen as benefits in many career pathways.
