10DRA

Year 10 Drama

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Ms C. Nicholson

This course is ideal for students who wish to apply their creativity and imagination to develop skills and confidence in performing live theatre.

Students will participate in small groups to create and present short theatre works to their
peers. The course focuses on the practical application of drama skills including improvisation, devising drama, working with scripts, and characterisation using vocal and physical acting techniques.

The processes involved in theatre production will be explored, as well as the practical application of theatre technologies such as sound and lighting, plus use of props and costume.

Students will maintain an individual digital learning journal for reflection on performance.

Recommended Prior Learning

It is not essential for students to have taken the Year 9 Drama or Dance options the previous year, but either course would be useful prior experience.

Students must be willing to perform in front of an audience of their peers within the class.

As there is quite a lot of paired and group work in this course, a good track record of attendance is recommended.
